Mercosur Regional Analysis

Grounded Bulk Carrier in Parana River Navigation in the Parana River (Upriver, Argentina) has been affected since 17 January by the grounded vessel, MV Aristeas P. The situation with the carrier interrupted all Upriver ports' activities, and all contracts declared a "force majeure" as a result.About 15 loaded vessels are waiting to receive the green light before navigating to their destinations. The grounded vessel is being removed; if everything goes as planned, tugs are expected to carry MV Aristeas P out of the river by 28 January. Forecasting developments in production agriculture

On behalf of a private U.S. agricultural technology provider, WPI’s team generated an econometric model to forecast the movement of concentrated corn production north and west from the traditional U.S. Corn Belt. WPI’s model has subsequently provided quantitative support to a multi-million-dollar investment into short-season corn variety development.
