E15 Process EPA approved the Model Misfueling Mitigation Plan for the use of E15 in 2001 and newer vehicles. This follows last month's decision by the agency to give health approval to the higher blend fuel. However, there are still a couple of hurdles before the higher blend rate can be used to knock a hole through the so-called "blend wall." One is the higher Reid Vapor Pressure (evaporation) of E15 in summer months. It would require ignoring the air quality goal of reducing volatile organic compounds.
