As the farm bill plays out – eventually - an interesting consumer survey was released last month by Purdue University’s Center for Food Demand Analysis and Sustainability. It reports on consumers’ food perceptions broken down by political ideology based on 20-months of monthly data collected from January 2022 to August 2023.  Responses are broken down into three political outlook categories: liberal, moderate, and conservative.  The survey is conducted among 1,200 respondents nationwide.  Every month, respondents are asked to allocate 100 points to six food attributes based on their importance in driving purchasing decisions when grocery shopping.
