Agricultural Commodity Analyst (Full-Time, Remote)

Location: Remote or Arlington, Virginia

Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)

FLSA Status: Exempt

About: World Perspectives, Inc. (WPI) is seeking an Agricultural Commodity Analyst to produce high-impact market intelligence for global decision-makers across the grain, oilseed, and livestock industries.

This role is best suited for candidates who can independently form market and policy views and communicate them clearly to business and policy stakeholders. You will work directly with WPI senior leadership and contribute to analysis used by multinational trading firms, financial institutions, and government agencies.

This role requires the ability to translate complex market dynamics and research into clear, decision-ready insights for a sophisticated global client base. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating closely with WPI leadership and a small team of experienced analysts.

What You’ll Do:

Analyze CBOT/CME futures and options price action and global supply/demand dynamics to produce daily and weekly market intelligence.

  • Develop actionable insights to support client risk management and strategic positioning.
  • Build and maintain commodity supply/demand balance sheets and trade flow and pricing models.
  • Contribute to consulting engagements, including U.S. and international market and policy research.
  • Support WPI’s external communications, including market-facing and social media content.
  • Assist the growth of WPI’s research products, readership, and revenue streams.

Compensation:

This role offers a base salary of $75,000–$100,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for performance-based bonuses, sales commissions, and profit sharing.

Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated market expertise.

Location:

This is intended to be a fully remote position but could also be based in Arlington, Virginia. WPI operates with a geographically distributed team, and candidates must be comfortable working across time zones. Due to team collaboration needs, remote-work candidates based in Eastern or Central U.S. time zones are preferred, though all will be considered.

Applicants must be located and authorized to work in the United States. WPI does not sponsor work visas for this position.

Travel:

Travel is expected to be minimal (typically less than 5 percent), with occasional opportunities to attend industry events or client engagements.

Benefits:

WPI offers a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k), health insurance, and dental insurance. The firm also provides a flexible, remote work environment and the ability to work closely with senior leadership and global clients.

About WPI:

WPI serves clients by illuminating the interplay between markets and policy and creating actionable information and insights. WPI’s global clientele spans multinational grain trading firms, government agencies, financial institutions, and producer groups who rely on our work to inform their decision-making in agricultural markets. Our company operates in two fields: agricultural commodity market analysis and bespoke consulting in the agricultural industry.

The Agricultural Commodity Analyst will primarily serve the market analysis field but will spend approximately 35 percent of their week supporting consulting efforts as well. This role will work closely with a small, highly collaborative team of market analysts and consultants while reporting directly to WPI’s President.

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business, Economics, or a similar business-related field.
  • Superior knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong quantitative reasoning and excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Professional experience or formal training in commodity futures and options markets.
  • Familiarity with grain and oilseed markets, economics, trade, and production dynamics.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise market analysis for a professional audience.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment and collaborating across time zones.
  • Strong teamwork skills.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with R or other statistical software and/or a willingness to learn R.
  • Experience with consulting and global market research.
  • Familiarity with livestock, biofuels, and non-agricultural (e.g., energy) commodity markets.
  • 1–7 years post-master’s degree experience.

Application Process:

Please send your resume and a one-page cover letter to wpi@agrilink.com and reference “Application for Agricultural Commodity Analyst” in the subject line.

Applicants may be asked to complete a short writing or market analysis exercise as part of the interview process.
