2025 Poultry Outlook

The poultry sector is poised for production growth in 2025, but price trends are expected to vary across products. Broiler growers in the U.S. placed 191 million chicks for meat production last week, which was up 4 percent from the last week of December 2023. Cumulative placements from the week ending 6 January through 28 December 2024 were 9.84 billion, up 2 percent from the same period a year earlier.Broiler production is estimated to end 2024 at 47.18 billion pounds, up 1.7 percent from 2023, and forecast to increase 0.6 percent to 47.5 billion pounds in 2025. This projected growth reflects the resilience of broiler production in navigating HPAI and fluctuating feed costs.  01032025dj.png 32.23 KBBroiler weights in Q4 are runni...

Communicating importance of value-added products

Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
