The OECD reported that Q2 2022 global merchandise trade “slowed markedly” with exports and imports up 2.1 percent and 2.6 percent, respectiveyl. That is roughly half their levels in Q1 2022. World trade in services also slowed with exports at 1.1 percent growth and imports at 2.2 percent. By contrast, in value terms U.S. agricultural exports were up 13.9 percent during October-June and U.S. agricultural imports were up 19.8 percent. Understandably, U.S. agriculture derived energy product exports biodiesel and ethanol were up the sharpest levels.
