Russian Grain Markets: 12–16 February 2024 The global bear market was shocking but it did not have an equal effect on the Russian grain market, which is still living under previously signed contracts, tenders, etc. However, huge stocks along with a global bearish trend and the upcoming planting campaign are not going to save the Russian market from a future bearish mood even if export duties soften. Some areas of Russia still trade milling wheat and barley at stable prices; however, this was only domestic trade, all export bids were unmistakably bearish - even with softer export duties and a weaker RUB. On behalf of a Canadian oilseed processer WPI's team provided market analysis, econometric modeling and financial due diligence in support of a $24 million-dollar investment in a Ukrainian crush plant. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment.
