The 2013 Canadian wheat crop didn't only set a new all-time record, it did so by more than 4 MMT. What is even more amazing is that all of that production increase came since Stats Canada's last estimate was released in October. The wheat harvest was essentially complete when that forecast was distributed, so it begs the question of how could they have missed that estimate by such an enormous margin? We shall never know. Forecasting developments in production agriculture
On behalf of a private U.S. agricultural technology provider, WPI’s team generated an econometric model to forecast the movement of concentrated corn production north and west from the traditional U.S. Corn Belt. WPI’s model has subsequently provided quantitative support to a multi-million-dollar investment into short-season corn variety development.
