The dynamics between fed cattle marketings and placements are analyzed with their implications for next quarters' beef demand and pricing. Feedlot turnover ratios show that cattle feeders are remaining relatively current on marketings. However, placement data suggests the current supply/demand relationships may be changing substantially.Heifer retention for herd rebuilding could reduce slaughter numbers and keep beef and cattle prices high through the year and into 2015.
