Livestock China’s Feed Demand Continues to Climb as Hog Industry Recovers According to the latest survey results from China’s National Feed Industry Association, the country’s feed output in September totaled 24.4 MMT, up 6.2 percent from August. The surveyed feed producers’ production increase was driven by hog feed, which was up by nearly 54 percent from August to 8.61 MMT. Feed production for broilers, ruminants, and layers improved by 10.5 percent, 9.9 percent, and 6.1 percent to 8.54 MMT, 1.12 MMT, and 2.91 MMT, respectively. Communicating importance of value-added products
Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
