Post-midterm election, pre-WASDE commodity trading lacked the excitement of last night’s newscasts. Grains were flat/lower while the livestock complex remained mixed with hogs gaining on cattle. Grain futrues should have gotten a boost from the U.S. dollar’s drop today but the anticipation of tomorrow’s WASDE overrode any macroeconomic impacts.  Wall Street is quite happy with the election results, which fully support expectations of two more years of congressional gridlock in Washington!  The general sentiment is that with a Democratic-controlled House and a Republican Senate, there will be no major legislation enacted that could substantially change the economy before the next Presidential election.
