Grains and oilseed markets defied their traditional post-4th of July fireworks and simply did nothing today. Wheat was the exception, rising 20 cents, while corn was lackluster. Oh yeah, soybeans hit a new contract low. For now, the world waits to see what will happen with the U.S.-China trade war. Rumors are circulating that China’s SinoGrain may be exempt from the 25 percent tariff for soybeans imported for the State Reserves. This could be an interesting way for China to access the U.S. crop will still technically participating in the trade war. Time will tell how the details iron out. On behalf of a Canadian oilseed processer WPI's team provided market analysis, econometric modeling and financial due diligence in support of a $24 million-dollar investment in a Ukrainian crush plant. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment. WPI has conducted parallel work on behalf of U.S., South American and European clients, both private and public, in the agri-food space.
