Just over a year ago (29 August), WPI reported on the California Air Resources Board (CARB) having finalized a rule that would effectively outlaw the sale of gas-fueled cars by 2035, in favor of electric vehicles (EVs). The plan would be phased in requiring the auto fleet to be no more than 65 percent gasoline powered cars by 2026 (starting about 16 months from now) and no more than 32 percent by 2030 before the 2035 deadline to ban combustion engine cars outright. This plan, fully implemented, would have an enormous impact on ethanol demand.
