The National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA) reported on Monday that members crushed 159.2 million bushels of soybeans during June, a record for the month but about 400,000 bushels below market expectations. The total was up 21.2 million bushels from last year while down 4.3 million bushels from May. Assuming NOPA represents 95 percent of the industry, its figure implies an industry-wide crush of 169.7 million bushels in June. NOPA’s estimated daily crushing rate, however, increased 30,000 bushels from 5.28 million in May to 5.31 million in June, in part due to stronger margins.
