There are still 17 left, but those are the petitions that as of July had not been reviewed by the Department of Energy (DOE). All the retroactive petitions denied had been reviewed by DOE. According to a statement by EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler: DOE and EPA thoroughly and carefully evaluated the petitions for those years at that time and EPA has found nothing in those new submissions that would merit a change in those previous decisions.
