As mentioned on Friday 2 December, in a separate proposed rule issued with the RVOs, EPA finalized an approved pathway for canola oil to be used in renewable diesel. Canola oil, processed through transesterification has been approved as a feedstock for fatty acid methyl-ester (FAME) biodiesel since 2010. The new pathway is for canola oil as renewable diesel, jet fuel, naphtha, LPG, or heating oil via a hydrotreating process.
