The ethanol industry is arguing about the impact on corn prices and the farm economy from a reduced RFS. Ethanol on Offensive Before Comment Period Ends In November, EPA proposed reducing the overall required amount of ethanol and biofuel under the renewable fuel standard (RFS) from the scheduled 14.4 billion gallons to 13 billion gallons. This is the first time EPA has put forward such a change since the RFS was implemented in 2005. The deadline for comments closes on 28 January, and to date there have been 14,482 comments submitted.
