Wheat: Net sales for the 2019/2020 marketing year, which began June 1, totaled 47,600 MT metric tons, resulting increases for Japan (112,100 MT, including 11,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 200 MT), Mexico (75,300 MT, including decreases of 500 MT), Taiwan (56,700 MT, including 55,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Iraq (55,000 MT, including 45,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), and Vietnam (30,000 MT). Reductions were primarily for unknown destinations (189,200 MT), the Philippines (50,000 MT), and South Korea (48,600 MT). Communicating importance of value-added products
Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
