It is 30 September, the last day of the fiscal year. Congress must pass a funding bill by midnight tonight or face a government shutdown. The odds are that a shutdown is coming, given the House is in recess until tomorrow, 1 October. President Trump met with the top Congressional leadership at the White House today to try to work out an agreement, but the outcome of that is unclear.  The House has a Continuing Resolution (CR) already, which keeps funding at 2024 levels through 21 November, buying time for longer term negotiations, including the Affordable Care Act insurance premium subsidies and tax credits.
