Soymeal Prices Up, but DDGS Not Available as Alternative The Soybean Oil Processors Association (SOPA) has again trimmed its estimate for India’s 2017/18 soybean production (harvest in October-November 2017), reducing the previous forecast of 9.15 MMT to 8.35 MMT. The government of India (GOI) pegged production at 12.217 MMT in its first advanced estimate of 22 September 2017. Based on available data, SOPA’s estimate seems accurate. This would mean production is 23.39 percent lower than its estimate of 10.9 MMT in 2016/17, which GOI had projected would reach 13.794 MMT that year.
