GOI is permitting PEC Limited, a State Trading Enterprise (STE),  to import 500,000 MT of corn for poultry feed and starch manufacturers under the tariff-rate quota (TRQ). This would be the first corn imports in 16 years, but India’s zero tolerance of GMOs is likely to restrict the origins. India’s Precarious Wheat Situation Higher-than-normal temperatures in winter and low soil moisture may damage the wheat production prospects in 2015/16.
