As India's domestic corn price remains higher than those on the world market, the country's 2016/17 corn tariff-rate quota (TRQ) of 500,000 MT was announced this week. However, one specific requirement limits the source to just one origin. Cotton Production Down in India Following the white fly attack on cotton in 2015/16, several farmers decided to plant other crops this year (2016/17) as that crop’s production in Punjab fell to 0.9 million bales from the average 1.2 million bales. On behalf of a Canadian oilseed processer WPI's team provided market analysis, econometric modeling and financial due diligence in support of a $24 million-dollar investment in a Ukrainian crush plant. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment. WPI has conducted parallel work on behalf of U.S., South American and European clients, both private and public, in the agri-food space.
