Grain and soy complex futures were higher overnight with large volumes traded. July corn traded over 95,000 contracts, July soybeans saw volume near 22,000 contracts, and July SRW wheat swapped 12,000 contracts. The overnight move higher in heavy volume was hugely important in setting the stage for the day session. The CBOT jumped into the green this morning and didn’t look back. Corn led the way higher, but soybeans and wheat didn’t need much convincing to move in that direction. Yesterday’s trade was dominated by funds exiting wheat and soybean shorts, while today’s activity was a reaction to bullish corn fundamentals.
