The arrest in Vancouver, Canada of Meng Wanzhou, a high-ranking executive of giant Chinese cellular technology company Huawei, and her pending extradition to the U.S. on charges of violating Iranian sanctions pose a potential roadblock for U.S.-China trade negotiations. Huawei has close ties to the Chinese government, which has launched a strong official protest to Canada and the U.S. over this and demanded her release.
