Market Commentary: CBOT Adds War-Risk Premium Ahead of WASDE

The CBOT rallied to start the week after news broke out this weekend of Russian shelling and bombardments of Ukrainian grain storage facilities and export ports near Odessa. Short-term worries center around grain losses and Ukraine’s ability to feed its population while long-term worries persist about the country’s ability to ship grain to the world if its export facilities are damaged. There was no news of a cease fire or peace talks over the weekend, only reports of war crimes and atrocities committed by the Russians north of Kiev.
