CBOT markets were mostly mixed in quiet trade overnight, but that tenor changed quickly once the day session started. The Crop Progress report initially appeared supportive for the major markets with planting slowing for corn and soybeans and corn and spring wheat conditions coming in below expectations. Of those factors, only the spring wheat issue proved consequential enough to support futures, and corn and the soy complex pushed lower. The reason for the soy complex weakness was primarily a pullback in soyoil futures, but also generally favorable planting and emergence progress and a beneficial weather outlook. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment.
