One day after shutting one of the most important waterways in the world, the U.S. Coast Guard reopened the Mississippi River near Memphis, Tennessee for river navigation. Yesterday, the Coast Guard closed the river due to a crack in the Interstate-40 bridge. After more detailed review by engineers, the crack and bridge were deemed stable, and traffic has been allowed to resume as normal. The 1½-day suspension of river navigation will ultimately have little impact on the U.S. 2020/21 export program.  Fund liquidation and profit taking dominated Friday’s CBOT trade.
