Wheat Argentina’s wheat harvest has started in the northern tip of the country, which was most affected by this year’s drought. Recently, hot temperatures allowed the harvest to start earlier than usual. Yields are even lower than expected at 0.5-2 MT/ha, depending on the field. Despite poor early yields, Argentina’s crop should still total 20.5-23 MMT, depending on which firm you ask. Some parts of the core wheat-growing region need rains, so WPI views 23 MMT as overly optimistic. Crop conditions and soil moisture ratings are nearly unchanged from last week. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment.
