Argentine Policy Updates Last night, Argentina’s Liberal candidate for president, Javier Milei, was elected as the next President of Argentina and will assume his role on 10 December 2023. In his campaign, he promised to move the country’s economy to the U.S. dollar, eliminate export taxes, and – importantly for agriculture - allow freedom in markets without government intervention. We'll see how much he can actually accomplish, but in principle, it seems to be the right path. What lies ahead in the coming months, however, might be tough as the first step is to rectify the economy and deregulate everything that the current government regulated. Communicating importance of value-added products
Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
