As FOB basis continued dropping last week, a cargo of Argentine soybeans was traded by the end of the week at levels of -2 SN for full May shipment. Today offers are at -5 SN with demand around 9 SN. The result is that Argentine origin is becoming more competitive against Brazilian.As has been widely reported, newly installed Argentine President Mauricio Macri followed through on his campaign promises and signed a decree that eliminates the export taxes on corn, wheat, barley, sorghum and sunseeds as well as reduces the export tax on soybeans (including meal and soyoil) from 35 to 30 percent. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
