Old crop corn continues to be traded in the Argentine market. At the FOB market, exporters are still offering their purchases from the FAS (before the elimination of the licenses) at attractive premiums. As a result, demand is active from Asia and also North Africa. Soybeans January started with strong activity from China. Crushers purchased several spot cargoes for January and February shipment, but nothing was traded for deferred positions. Basis rose gradually during the first weeks of 2016 in response to the strong Chinese demand. The inverse in the market pushed trades trying to arrive in China as early as possible.
