Farmers are still focused on the soybean harvest, but as soon as they finish with that crop they will automatically switch to corn. The flow of trucks to ports was high all last week, averaging 2,400 per day (70,000 MT/day) arriving at upriver ports. Those figures are not bad considering the upriver vessel lineup is 1.6 MMT. During April, ports will end up loading about 4 MMT of corn. The situation in Argentina’s southern ports, especially Bahia Blanca, is vastly different. Communicating importance of value-added products
Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
