Wheat Argentina’s wheat area received some rain last week (15-50 mm) but precipitation was isolated to the southern agricultural area. The effect is that planting will be slightly delayed as soil moistures in the area were already high. In the meantime, Cordoba and Santa Fe, along with a large portion of the core wheat-growing area, are still suffering from drought. The crop is developing more slowly than normal and is varied in development/condition. The drought is also reducing the efficacy of fertilizers and fields planted with low soil moisture in hopes of better rainfall are suffering the most. On behalf of a Canadian oilseed processer WPI's team provided market analysis, econometric modeling and financial due diligence in support of a $24 million-dollar investment in a Ukrainian crush plant. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment.
