Egypt is the world’s second-largest producer of tilapia, producing 1.3 MMT today with expectations that the total will reach 2 MMT by 2020. This growth has led Nutreco to increase its investment in aquafeed production there.
Regional Updates MEDITERRANEAN/MIDDLE EAST COMMENTS Egypt has become the leading importer of Russian grain so far in this crop year, pushing Turkey into second place. The July-October 2015 export numbers for total grains include the following: Egypt (2 MMT), Turkey (1.6 MMT), Saudi Arabia (1.4 MMT), Iran (965,000 MT) and South Africa (589,000 MT).
