Middle East, Mediterranean, and Africa Regional Analysis

Mediterranean/Middle East/North Africa/Africa – MEA Region Turkey’s flour exports in 2025, at 2.36 MMT, were back up close to 2019 levels but well below the five-year average of close to 3.0 MMT. Exports were low due to drought and Turkey’s export restrictions. Shipments of flour to Iraq dropped from 920,000 MT to only 360,000 MT in 2025, but shipments to Syria have doubled to 650,000 MT. Flour exports for 2026 are hoped to reach as high as 2.7 MMT, but some sources say that 2.4 MMT will be the maximum.   Turkey’s current ban on poultry meat during the Ramadan period is concerning local poultry producers who count on export markets.
