Egypt’s government purchases of local wheat have reached 3.55 MMT causing the target purchase to be increased to 3.7 MMT from 3.5 MMT. Egypt’s current wheat reserves will cover 6.6 months of consumption. Syria has announced a program with Russia that will “restore or reconstruct destroyed mills and silos” using Russian technology and equipment. Forecasting developments in production agriculture
On behalf of a private U.S. agricultural technology provider, WPI’s team generated an econometric model to forecast the movement of concentrated corn production north and west from the traditional U.S. Corn Belt. WPI’s model has subsequently provided quantitative support to a multi-million-dollar investment into short-season corn variety development.
