Egypt’s government purchases of local wheat have reached 3.55 MMT causing the target purchase to be increased to 3.7 MMT from 3.5 MMT. Egypt’s current wheat reserves will cover 6.6 months of consumption. Syria has announced a program with Russia that will “restore or reconstruct destroyed mills and silos” using Russian technology and equipment.
