USDA FAS published a report this week on the Egyptian program of land reclamation. The report points out that if the planned 630,000 hectares of desert are reclaimed and used for wheat or corn crops, production could probably increase substantially. However, there are two problems with the program. Regional Updates Middle East/Mediterranean Comments The FAO forecasts Bangladesh’s 2016 corn and wheat crops to be at about the same high levels as last year.
