Regional Updates MEDITERRANEAN/MIDDLE EAST/NORTH AFRICA/AFRICA – MEA REGION Iran reduced its import duty on oilseeds, including soybeans, from 9 to 1 percent in order to control rising prices in Iran. Soybean imports are expected to be about 2.35 MMT for 2022/23. India expects that its 2022/23 wheat crop could reach 112 MMT, an increase of 5 MMT. India is also considering restarting wheat exports which may be an easier decision with the larger crop – exports could be of great benefit to some importing countries in the MEA region.
