The overwhelmingly Democratic legislature passed a gestation crate ban for the state where swine production is minimal. Nonetheless, the bill was popular and passed both the Senate 29-4 and the House 60-5. Governor Christie vetoed that ban this summer. Now that he is re-elected after facing no real challenge during the election, animal rights groups are stirring the issue again.
