Olive oil remains the higher priced among the major vegetable oils. In fact, while the relative traded values of oils from rapeseed, palm and soybeans tend to move in tandem, olive oil stands out on its own for the premium it receives from the marketplace. However, weather and agronomic factors aside, supply tends to expand or contract based on the relative reward obtained from buyers. In the case of olive area harvested, it has been expanding at twice the rate as rapeseed area and is on par with that of soybeans. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
