Oilseed Highlights: Russia Threatens Brazilian Soy Imports; Argentina and Brazil Eye Mexican Market

The well-publicized feud between U.S. President Trump and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto over trade and immigration has received the attention of Argentina and Brazil for one important reason. Russia Threatens to Ban Brazilian Soybeans Over Unapproved GM Varieties Sergei Dankvert, head of Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznador), recently told Luis Rangel, secretary of Brazil’s Agricultural Protection Unit, that Russia had substantial grounds for limiting imports of soy from Brazil because it was growing biotech varieties that his country had not approved.
