U.S. Soybean Export Sales More Than Double Last Week Today’s USDA export sales report for the week ending 13 June indicated the volume of U.S. soybeans sold for shipment in 2018/19 totaled 571,500 MT, up 255,900 MT or 123 percent from the previous week and 34 percent above the past four-week average.The top sales were to unknown destinations (141,400 MT), Egypt (110,000 MT), the Netherlands (82,600 MT), Japan (56,600 MT) and Indonesia (55,700 MT). The sale to the Netherlands included 66,000 MT originally sold to Argentina but then switched to that country. (There are no more unshipped sales on the books for Argentina). WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
