Our Complaints Too EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was at the White House today to initiate a bilateral agreement with President Biden on joint sourcing and production rules for critical minerals. The agreement is an attempt to placate Europe’s frustration with American subsidies under the dubiously named Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). But Congress wrote and passed the IRA, and some its leaders are annoyed with the White House for groveling to Europe. They note that the IRA was specifically written to share energy transition pursuits with free trade agreement partners.
