“Reciprocal” Tariffs President Trump’s political opponents acknowledge he is a great marketer and his multi-day hype of a “Liberation Day” came to a head today with the announcement of a minimum 10 percent import tariff and rates at generally half those charged by other countries on U.S. products. The calculation considers the value of nontariff barriers. It is unclear at this juncture whether the calculation takes account of U.S. nontariff barriers.
