Now that both houses of Congress are controlled by the Democrats (albeit by very small margins) the legislative committees will be chaired by Democrat lawmakers giving them the ability to set the initial policy agenda. Therefore, the Congressional Budget Committees are going to play a key legislative role through a process called reconciliation.   The House Budget Chairman will remain Representative John Yarmuth (D-Kentucky) and the Senate Budget Committee Chairman will be Senator Bernie Sanders (D-Vermont).
