Meanwhile, the weather in southern Russia is far from perfect as temperatures have risen to levels above 30°C, and the 14-day forecast is calling for precipitation that is much below the normal seasonal level. Analysts are cutting their crop estimates based on the adverse weather, and 80 MMT seems a rather optimistic number versus the 72 MMT harvested last year. Ukraine’s weather remains favorable, and the crop there could still exceed 28 MMT if those conditions cooperate until the harvest. For reference, it harvested 24.5 MMT last year.
