November CBOT soybean futures are 21 cents (2.3 percent) higher as the market digests reports from Bloomberg (yet confirmed by WPI or other news sources) that the U.S. and China are seeking to restart discussions aimed at ending the trade war.  Bloomberg reports that representatives of U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Chinese Vice Premier Liu He are having “private conversations” aimed at bringing their respective countries back to the negotiating table. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that China’s economy is starting to feel the effects of the U.S. tariffs, and U.S. agricultural markets have certainly felt the impacts of Chain’s tariffs on soybeans.
