In the past, the goal of increasing trade, especially agricultural trade, enjoyed nearly unanimous bipartisan support. Thus, the current debate raging over giving President Obama fast track Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) is very disappointing and even appalling.We had a direct working involvement with agricultural trade for many years and paid active attention to issues affecting U.S. trade policy out of necessity. One cannot be engaged in trade policy matters without also being active on Capitol Hill.
