The Resistance The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) issued a report on antibiotic (AB) resistance and policies to slow the trend while increasing research on new drugs. One cannot sugarcoat the situation, and the report does a fair job of citing use by both humans and food animals as contributing factors. Still, there are anomalies in the data when it comes to agricultural use such as the following:
Since 2005, antibiotic use in food animals has been relatively high in France and Germany even as the development of antibiotic resistance has been below the OECD average.
