The ongoing conference in Indonesia organized by the U.S. Soybean Export Council and the U.S. Grains Council has featured major discussions about the outlook for U.S. – China trade dispute. Specifically, attendees (of which this analyst is one) are estimating the trade war’s impact on soybean and soymeal supplies to Southeast Asia. The region is a large importer of soybeans and soymeal from the U.S., as well as Argentina and Brazil, but had its normal sourcing pattern greatly disrupted this year by the drought in Argentina and China’s shift in soybean procurement.
